Volvo Inspired Computer Mouse

A form exploration based on the Volvo XC40

In this project, I explored how automotive design language can be translated into product design on a smaller scale. The goal was to create a computer mouse that reflects the character of the Volvo XC40 – combining a sense of robustness with modern Scandinavian elegance.

The process began with a visual analysis of the XC40’s design language, studying proportions, surface intersections, and characteristic lines. I used both quick sketches and clay models to understand how these elements could be adapted to an ergonomic handheld product. Through several iterations, the form was refined to achieve a balanced expression between function and identity.

The result is a CAD rendering and prototype concept that captures Volvo’s distinctive design DNA in a compact, tactile object.
